Born in Coventry (1995), Skatta (Nathan Hunter) is a dynamic emcee rapidly reshaping the city’s music scene. With a distinctive sound and a talent for collaboration, he’s gaining national and international recognition aswell as being nominated as Ones to Watch for Coventry at Urban Music Awards.
Skatta’s raw talent caught the ear of BBC 1Xtra’s Sian Anderson, propelling him into the spotlight and securing partnerships with Alouette Street Records, Broc Editions, Wise and Dubwise Recordings and I’m Not A Machine Music.
His music has resonated with audiences on platforms like Red Bull Music and SBTV, while electrifying crowds at major events including New Skool Rules Festival, Godiva Festival, Portobello Live, and The M.E.S.S Tour.
Beyond his musical prowess, Skatta is a cultural catalyst. Co-founding the ‘Take the Square’ festival with the Playmaker Group, he’s showcased both Coventry’s thriving artistic scene and national talent.
Skatta’s innovative spirit extends to his music. Sampling iconic artists like Grammy-winning composer Janko Nilovic (whose publishing label he’s signed to), the Soul Surfers through Funk Night Records, and Galt MacDermot (leading to a signing with Third Side Music Publishing) demonstrates his unique approach.
His hit single "Style and Trend" produced by Yeti on the Pads and DJ Edsik, is a cultural touchstone. Featured in a Suzuki advert, a BBC News sneaker segment, and a Crepe City campaign, it propelled Skatta into the fashion spotlight, gracing the pages of Highsnobiety.
Skatta’s collaborative fire ignited "Trenches" with J-Fresh, Rynsa Man and Clipson, crowned Charlie Sloth’s Track of the Week on Apple Music. Endorsed by industry giants like Rude Kid on Kiss FM and Sir Spyro on BBC 1Xtra, the track stormed YouTube Music’s Underground Grime playlist.
