When I was around 14 years old, I heard Sergio Mendes for the first time. Not only did I immediately fall in love with Brazilian Music, but felt so much that this was the type of music that I had always been searching for… as if I had already, somewhere in a lifetime, been immersed in this incredible rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, and poetic music. The colorful culture… the tropical land… the spirit of happiness in Brazil was always a mirage, a conscious and unconscious dream that I was trying to grasp. A few years ago, Orlando and I met; music brought us together and together we made this album that is really the beginning of much ahead. I thank most of all Orlando, my husband and musical companion, for being a big part and helping me discover and realize my dreams, and for all the love, support and spirit he has given me. And this is what this album captures – the spirit and love behind the music among all the musicians and people involved in this work.Patricia King Haddad
