Italian jazz trio Collettivo Immaginario announce the release of their second full-length album, 'Oltreoceano'.

Known for their slick sound and energetic live performances, their style is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition of collective improvisation, through which they have developed an agile, kaleidoscopic sound. The trio’s unique fusion of funk, jazz, and 70's electronica continues in the trio’s latest release, forging connections across oceans through the universal language of music.

Consisting of founder Tommaso Cappellato on drums and percussion, Nicolò Masetto on electric bass, and Alberto Lincetto on rhodes, piano, and synths, Collettivo Immaginario have become rising stars in the Italian festival scene, from the streets of their hometown in Italy to the diverse audiences in Los Angeles, London and Milan.

Subtly paying homage to genre-bending giants like Azymuth, Lonnie Liston Smith, Herbie Hancock, and Hermeto Pascoal—alongside Italian film music legends Piero Piccioni and Piero Umiliani—their sound moves effortlessly between the heat of the club and the cinematic allure of evocative film scores, infused with touches of spiritual jazz.

Following the success of their debut 2019 single, 'Closer To The Sun’ feat. Chauncey Yearwood , Collettivo Immaginario answered the call from toe-tapping audiences on both sides of the Atlantic to capture their on-stage magic. The result was 'Trasforma', their first full-length album released in 2022 under drummer Cappellato's Los Angeles label, Domanda Music. 'Trasforma' successfully showcased the trio's musical dexterity and versatility to venture into new musical territories.

In the last couple of years, Collettivo Immaginario has released multiple singles on Domanda Music, including ‘Oltreoceano’, ‘Libra’, ‘Alberoni’, and ‘Tempo Al Tempo’, the latter also issued on 12" vinyl and played by renowned DJs Theo Parrish and J Rocc. A sold-out EP, ‘Luce/Luna Gioia’, on the Space Grapes label and a European tour further cemented their place as the next jazz-funk trio to watch.

Their upcoming album, 'Oltreoceano', dives deep into the concept of distance - literally and figuratively. Produced collaboratively between the US, France and Italy, the album conveys the complexities of being distant from one another - whether it be through physical proximity, emotional bonds, or the passage of time - and the human desire for connectivity. Featuring eight tracks, including the jazz-funk odyssey 'Tempo Al Tempo' co-produced with Danilo Plessow (MCDE/Spacegrapes), the dreamy soundtrack-like ballad 'Alberoni' featuring the lush vocals of Stones Throw’s Maylee Todd, the cosmic jazz anthem 'Vento Eterno' with saxophonist Isaiah Collier and vocal legend Dwight Trible, and the smooth ethereal track, 'Fine Di Un'Era' featuring Canadian producer / multi-instrumentalist Mocky (Stones Throw, Crammed Discs), 'Oltreoceano' promises an immersive aural experience that celebrates the power of music to unite us despite the separation.

'Oltreoceano' offers more than just melodies; it's a poetic exploration of the spaces between us and the myriad of ways we can bridge those gaps to foster togetherness. It's a testament to hope and the enduring spirit of unity that pervades Collettivo Immaginario's work. This project represents a bold step in their discography, affirming that distance is no barrier to the heart-stirring connections that music can create.

Set for a spring 2025 release on Domanda Music, 'Oltreoceano' weaves together rhythms, hearts, and souls, creating a musical dialogue that transcends borders and brings people closer, no matter where they are in the world.
