Oli Stewart is Casbah 73. American-born, Madrid-based DJ, producer, vinyl collector and selector extraordinaire with several decades of experience under his belt.

Classic soul, funk and disco at it's finest, with releases on mainstay outlets such as Glitterbox and Lovemonk, we’re extremely proud to have him in the Boogie Angst record bins.

Let’s Invade the Amazon is a highly grooved piece of live musical wizardry, with vocal performances to match. Beautifully extended and ongoing, the steady backbone interplay with funky electric pianos, with the occasional synth riff popping up for a breath of fresh air.

Next we find Pale Splash of Blue: some top shelf live Moog-, Rhodes- and Hammond featuring Jazz Funk. Punchy organs stab away alongside Casbah 73’s signature electric piano sprinkles, bouncing around his unique rhythmic groove. All resulting in a driving pace and attractive up-tempo moment.

On the flip-side we first find Osunlade. The highly revered, African American musician, producer, DJ and label boss at the edges of Electronic and House music; whilst always staying firmly rooted in Jazz and Soul. Since the start of his career in the early 1990s, Osunlade has been steadily releasing critically acclaimed singles and albums on high profile labels such as Soul Jazz, BBE, Strictly Rhythm and of course his own label, Yoruba Soul. Furthermore, he also has a wide and varied remix track record, with reworks for the likes of Nightmares On Wax, Roy Ayers, St. Germain, 4 Hero, United Future Organization, Salif Keita and DJ Jazzy Jeff. He has gracefully taken the original song’s natural vibe and transported us to his own universe; a warm, spiritual and uplifting journey. The result is a first-class Osunlade re-imagination, and a soon-to-be Deep House classic.

Lastly, we find JKriv on the remix. A seasoned musician with a knack for live instrumentation, which shines through in his original Disco productions. Contributing to studio sessions for the likes of Dimitri From Paris, Horse Meat Disco, Studio 54’s Night Magic Vol. 1, or his own nu-disco band Escort; JKriv re-imagines the classic disco sound, whilst always keeping his ear to the dance floor. With a career spanning nearly two decades via labels such as Soundway Records, Glitterbox or Razor-N-Tape, we’re proud to feature this classy, yet exotic Nu-disco version on the release.
