"The song was created for the dance floor. It’s about claiming your freedom, your right to
express yourself without judgement. Too often we are treated differently because of the
colour of our skin, our gender or our age. So, when you Put Your Hands Up to dance it’s
about making a stand to fight for your right to be free without judgement. It reflects the
time we're in now and what we’re still fighting for. Growing up as a Palestinian migrant in
Australia, I felt I could write about this from first-hand experience." – Randa Khamis.
